Learning a Country Craft:
Learning a new skill or craft is fun, fulfilling and keeps our traditional skills alive.  From trug making to willow weaving, from soap making to wine making.

There are so many fantastic traditional crafts and skills that we can learn, use and enjoy; bringing a little more meaning, pride and sustainability to our everyday lives.

Importance Of Country Crafts:
It is becoming increasingly important not to lose our traditional skills.  Crafts are a major part of our heritage, all across the world when we look back we find so many traditional skills that communities shared, learnt and used.  These practices have reduced over time as it has become easier and cheaper to buy the items we need with no effort or time involved, however we are coming to realise more and more in recent years how this ‘off the shelf’ world is in so many ways bad for our environment and welfare.

We strongly believe at Mantel Farm that keeping the old crafts alive and applying them to a modern life is extremely enjoyable and important.  It is a joy to learn a new skill, to take home your own creation to use or gift to family or friend and to have enough knowledge to continue at home.  Every item made yourself is one less mass-produced item made (often in poor conditions) and shipped around the world!

Join us on our Country Craft Courses:
Our Country Craft Courses offer a unique opportunity to learn a range of crafts and skills in a friendly, relaxed environment.  Courses are held in small groups, creating the perfect atmosphere to grow your confidence and make learning a new skill a joy.  Our makers are extremely skilled individuals willing to share their time with others to keep these crafts alive.
