This is a quirky bird with silk-feathered bodies.
Silkies have hair-like feathers giving the softest touch, and once tamed, they love a cuddle!
Other specific features include purplish blue skin, also extending to legs, toes, beak and combs! Hardy in winter due to it’s dense coat of feathers, they do need plenty of shade in the summer.
They are virtual non-flyers as their wings have no substance, so perches should be kept low.
They lay approx. 100 cream eggs per year. (mostly small sized)
